Carrying over 70 passengers, an Amtrak train collided with a tractor-trailer last Friday in Missouri City, officials said. Fortunately, no one was injured in the afternoon crash.
The train was traveling through Missouri City, Texas, on its way to New Orleans as it crashed onto the big rig at an intersection along Highway 90. Officials said the truck was up on the tracks when it was struck.
The crash was reported about 1:35 p.m. at the intersection of Cravens Road and U.S. 90. Highway 90 was closed down for 2 hours as the incident ended up sending scattered pieces of the rig all over the roadway.
The train is reported to have nearly ripped the semi’s entire trailer in half. The Amtrak train did not experience damage, though, and was back on its travel within hours.
