Worker killed in Ohio accident
A contractor of Blue Racer Midstream was killed this week in Noble County, Ohio after an accident at a condensate pumping skid, the company has confirmed.
The Noble County sheriff’s office, emergency management personnel and state fire marshall were called to the scene at around 4:15 pm Wednesday.
The skid was adjacent to a Consol Energy well pad that was not in operation at the time according to Blue Racer, a joint venture between Caiman Energy and Dominion.
The company did not identify the deceased, but local reports said the victim was Norman Butler, 48, of Newport News Virginia, an electrician.
“Everyone at Blue Racer Midstream is deeply saddened by this event,” the company said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members and friends that have been affected.”
A report from the local Newport News indicated that the service equipment caught fire while the wellhead itself was spared.
The site has been secured with all production wells and pipelines shut in, Blue Racer said.
“We will work closely and diligently with all of the proper authorities as they investigate the accident,” the company added.
