18 WHEELER LOGGING TRUCK FLIPPED

An 18-wheeler logging truck flipped on Highway 246 near Ridge Road Monday afternoon after swerving to avoid a mower.

According to a highway patrol officer, the logging truck was headed east on Highway 246 when it came over a hill and the driver saw a S.C. Department of Transportation mower in the lane also heading eastbound. The logging truck attempted to pass the mower but as it started toward the westbound lane the driver saw a car headed west. In an attempt to not hit the westbound car head-on, the driver lost control and the truck flipped onto its side, spilling logs onto the highway.

Craig Garrison lives in a house on the street where the wreck happened. He said the driver was pulled from the overturned trailer and into a stretcher. He appeared to have knot on his head. His current condition is unknown at this time.
