1 killed, 2 hurt in Weld County fracking site accident
WELD COUNTY, Colo. – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in an industrial accident at a fracking site in southern Weld County Thursday morning.
Authorities say work crews were trying to thaw out a frozen high pressure water line when it ruptured at 9:34 a.m.
“And what came out of that was probably around 2,500 to 3,500 of psi (pounds per square inch of water pressure,)” said Amy Tallent of Mountain View Fire Rescue.
The Weld County Coroner has not yet released the name of the crew member who was killed.
Late Thursday, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office identified the injured parties as Thomas Sedlmayr, 48, who was airlifted to Denver Health, and Grant Casey, 28, who was taken by ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies.
